Sherlock Holmes is my all-time favorite mystery old time radio show. Almost all of the canonical stories were made into old time radio shows that you can get. Boris Karloff is another big old time radio hit, Cloak and Dagger, Dark Venture.
Popular Comedy Old Time Radio Shows
Abbott & Costello was definately a popular show, and probably one of the funniest old time radio comedy shows. A Date with Judy is very funny, though not many shows are available. Barrel of Fun is another good old time radio program. Benny Goodman was a big name. Bob Hope can't be beat! Blondie, Evening with George Burns, Camel Comedy, there are just so many wonderful shows...
Old Time Radio Variety Shows That Were Popular
Al Jolson Show, The Alan Young Show, Arthur Godfrey and his talent scouts, Artie Shaw, Authors Playhouse, Big Bands, Eddie Arnold Show, Ernie Ford. I wish there was more Red Skelton available, as his old time radio shows are incredible. He was a riot! Who knows maybe in the future more of his old time radio stuff will be available.

2000 Plus is very popular. There's also Batman and Buck Rogers. X minus one was a big old time radio hit. Some others.

The Avenger--even the name sounds dramatic, doesn't it? Well it was a dramatic old time radio show. Defense Attorney, Charlie Chan. Good stuff.
Western Old Time Radio Shows That Were Popular
Hopalong Cassidy. Who hasn't heard of him? Death Valley Days, Gene Autry (the singing cowboy!). Gunsmoke (I think this was Bill Cosby's favorite). There are lots of western old time radio shows available for free download. All categorized here on my site! Isn't free old time radio great?
